Overlooking the nearby Port Hills, Ōtautahi, Christchurch and beyond, this home was designed to maximize views while conforming to a limited allowable building footprint. Extensive excavation was also required to ensure its building height did not conflict with recession planes, as the Ground Floor sits sunken into the hillside.

Brick cladding wraps the two-storey structure above grade, with corbelling creating visual relief. Simplicity in shape and material palette creates a striking, but minimal, appearance from both near and afar.
